Vive Sandino-wood
Our first stop in Managua was Parquet Historical, a breezy spot overlooking a volcanic lagoon and the rest of the city. The statue of Sandino sits onto ofq the hill much like the Hollywood sign. The Sandinistas erected it atop the wreckage of Samoaza's presidential mansion. We also toured a permanent exhibition of old photos of Sandino in the basement of the ruins.
